E. Code Speed Definition
------------------------
1. Speed Standards
------------------
a. Character, and Word Speeds
-----------------------------
Normally, the spacing between characters is sent at the
same speed as the character elements. However, when the
Farnsworth method is used, the spacing between
characters is sent at a slower speed than the
characters themselves. CODE PRACTICE provides a
teaching method to help you increase you code reading
speed by using a modified version of the Farnsworth
method. Code Practice sends all letter at a code speed
of 13 words per minute. The space between each letter
and word group is changed after each minute. The
program start out sending at a rate equal to 5 words
per minute then increase the speed by reducing the
space until a true 13 words per minute code speed is
reached. The code speed is then reduced each minute
until it reach 5 words per minute.
The method will help the average student to build their
speed to 13 words per minute in less time than use code
tape and record that send code at a continuous 13 word
per minute.
PAGE 3
D. Calibration
--------------
This version of Code Practice does not allow the use to alter the
speed of the code. However the program is design to produce the
same results on any computer. To check the code speed on your
computer, let the program run through one complete lesson. Using
a stop watch or a clock with a second hand, time the length of each
group of word sent at a given speed. Each group should take 1
minute +/- 10 seconds to complete.
I hope you enjoy this program, I would appreciate feed back about
the program.
